Mr Cub on the Auction Block

I listed several Ernie banks baseball cards on my eBay account today. All of them contain some combination of game-used items. I don’t have any autographed cards though.

I have mixed emotions about the whole game-used baseball card craze. Yeah, they’re cool cards. I can touch a piece of Ernie Banks’ bat. Or Kerry Wood’s shoe. There are even cards out there with babe Ruth’s jersey embedded in them. But obviously, in order to get those pieces into the cards, they had to be cut up into little shards and swatches. In other, harsher words, completely destroyed. I don’t like thinking about that part. Some part of me would rather know that there is only one authentic uniform in a glass case on someone’s wall, than 250 tiny little squares of it in different baseball cards.
