This Is How It Starts

Yesterday, I was getting ready to write a post about the first week of the Cubs’ 2011 season. One of my first, and favorite, observations was that the Cubs came out of spring training without any notable injuries. No thumb sprains, no hamstring tightness, no lingering back problems. But then…

It was soon reported that Carlos Pena would miss the game with a thumb sprain. Today, we get word that Andrew Cashner will go on the disabled list with a rotator cuff strain suffered in yesterday’s game. Add to that, Randy Wells will also be DL’ed with a forearm strain. Did anyone even know he was hurt?
